I don't know if anyone has experience with HP's warranties, but I emailed them a few days ago and they still haven't gotten back to me, so I thought I would ask here.

I bought a new dv4000 (custom built) from hpshopping.com on the 30th of September. Obviously, it hasn't arrived yet, but the Accidental Protection warranty that I purchased at the same time as the computer has, and it requests that I return the provided registration card within 10 days of the purchase of the card. The problem is that I don't have the hardware that the warranty will cover, and thus, I don't have its serial number. Should I wait and register the card online after my computer arrives, which will almost certainly be after the ten days are up, or send it in without the serial number? Also, does my warranty start the day of purchase, or the day I receive my computer? Thanks for your help in advance.

Wait until the computer arrives and then send the registration card in.

I wouldn't get too worried about it. It is not like they are not going to cover you if the card is late.

It's not a problem. Just wait until you receive the notebook and then fill out the card and send it in.

You could hold on to the service agreement for 6 months and it would not matter as long as you did not need the service. ;)

They just want it sent in as soon as possible so they have it on file when you need the service.

The contract is a stand alone item and can be registered to any HP notebook. It is not dated and does not have an expiration date. It gets dated once it is registered to a particular computer. :)
