I want to buy HP Compaq 2510p, and I want it to have 2GB RAM.
I have two options:
1) I can buy a preconfigured model with 2GB RAM (like this one).
2) I can buy a preconfigured model with 1GB RAM (like this one, never mind the price differences) and add another 1GB.
My question is would I benefit from dual-channel in option #2?
Is option #1 also dual-channel? (I don't understand from the HP website whether it's 1x2GB or 2x1GB)
Which is a better option in terms of speed and performance (let's say regardless of price)?
Thanks!

I think there's only 1-dimm slot. So I don't think there's dual channel there. Only one dimm is supported.

Thank you for the answer. Are you sure this is the case? I thought maybe the slot is in addition to some sort of "on-board" memory.

f4ding is actually right: There is only 1x slot, i.e. you have to replace the 1GB module by the 2GB. So, I guess ordering with 2GB pre-installed is the best option.
