Just got this new laptop and every time that I start up the screen is on the dark side and I have to manually make it brighter (function + F10 ). Is there a way to set the brightness to a higher level as a default ?

    Thanks

Are you starting your computer on battery or have the power plugged in? Usually, if you start on battery, your notebook will automatically dim the screen.
If your power is plugged in, simply go to your Power Options properties and select max battery.

If you have Vista it will default to to monitor settings in the control panel->Power options. You will have to change the default screen brightness in there rather than just using the keyboard shortcut.
