    Hello there

I've a 2 year old 6720. The problem is that it is giving me a battery time of around 1 hour max ( a couple of min more maybe) while doing browsing, word, basic stuff.

I installed the HP battery checker software and it says that the health is good, dunno how accurate the app is but thats what it said.

A bit of history, I've been using the notebook 90% of the the time plugged in, and powered on about 15-24 hours a day.

So, time to change the battery? or anything can be done to improve the times?

    Thanks

well, some people say it is possible to gain a little battery time back by running a few charging - discharging cycles.

but basicly your battery is LI-ion and those are said to start degrading after about 300 charging cycles. for most people this is about 15-20 month of using the notebook. after those around 300 cycles the degradation speeds up, until you will only have a few minutes left.

Lithium - Ion batteries don´t have the "memory"-effect anymore that older rechargable batteries showed when you always used them until a certain level. (lets say only used like 30% of the battery capacity for a longer period, the older batteries remembered that and did not discharge further than that)

you can try to charge - discharge the battery a few times, and see if it helps a bit. but since your battery is already 2 years old, you probably can´t do anything about it´s current state.

you have a few choices now :

    - if you need that notebook to be mobile you will need to get a new battery sooner or later.

    - if you don´t need more than 1 hour of mobility right now, you can still leave it that way.

    - if you already have thought about getting a new notebook someday, you probably don´t wanna spent much money on a new battery for an old notebook. and the old notebook could still be used without a battery.

it´s totally up to your plans and how you intend to use the notebook.

And any ideas are there any better batteries for this laptop out there? I heard there were some extra long life ones in the 6 cell.
