Hello, I recently discovered a problem with my laptop (a red line appearing on the screen) and I've contacted HP support, who told me to ship the unit in for repairs. However, after hearing other experiences with HP support, I feel it would be more "safe" to personally bring my laptop into a authorized service partner. :D So I just wanted to ask if anyone has had repair experiences with any of these partners in either the Kitchener/Waterloo or Toronto (Scarborough or Markham) area and could point me to a trustworthy and respectable partner?

    Many thanks.

The experiences you hear with HP repairs are for their consumer models (Pavillions). The 8510p, being a corporate notebook, will have enterprise class support, which is nothing like their consumer support.

    Thanks chrixx for your comment.

I guess i'll just have another chat with their support to get them to ship me the box. I just thought that bringing it personally to a shop will yield a faster turnaround time than the 5-6 days the support staff told me it would take with shipping + potential waiting for parts.

The 8510p comes with an onsite warranty, so if you live within close range to an urban centre, they should send out a tech. Otherwise, you can request for the pickup to occur only when the parts are available.

I wasn't aware of the onsite warranty for the 8510p, always thought it was 3/3/0. Guess its time for another chat with the CS.
