    Good day all,
I hope that someone can help me with a frustrating problem that I've encountered of late with my laptop. My screen decided to die on me last week and I went online to seek out solutions to what I thought was a dead screen. To my surprise I found fixes on YouTube via google. So for the first fix I disconnected my power source and depressed the power button for a total of 60 seconds and when I connected my laptop and booted up again, I was in business for a day. For a second fix, I took my hair dryer to the vents for a very period of time and once again I was in business for a day. I'm yet to find a permanent fix to my recurring issue. Do you guys have any suggestions?

Here are the symptoms to my issue. When I turn on the laptop, a strange noise emanates from it (like a fusing bulb) and it goes into a black screen which sometimes is a very dim screen. This laptop works when connected to an external monitor. What could the issue be here? Is it fixable?

PS: last year I upgraded my ram from 2 to 4 gigs.
