Hello all, I'm a relative newbie on this forum. However, I've searched this forum, and I couldn't find any answers to these two specific questions:

    1) When my wife bought me this laptop back in 2005, it did not come with internal wireless, therefore no antennas behind the display. I see that the parts are on eBay for relatively cheap, so has anyone added Antennas behind their display? Or should I just get the antennas that stay in the base?

    2) I just ordered a processor off eBay for $15 to upgrade from my Celeron M 1.4 GHz to Pentium M 1.6 GHz. I found the HP manual on how to replace the CPU, but I was wondering if there were any steps I could cut out? It has me removing the keyboard, key switch cover, and a lot of other things that don't seem necessary. Has anyone done this type of upgrade?

Thanks for any and all replies.

I did, with the AMD version of that notebook. I added internal wireless and upgraded the CPU. Worked great. Just be sure that the wireless card you buy is HP approved for your v2000t series laptop as they lock out unapproved cards in the BIOS.

Did you follow the HP Manual to the "T", or were you able to minimize the parts needed to remove?

I have upgraded the CPU in a dv1000 which is the Hp version of the v2000. It was really easy i only had to take off the bottom of the laptop because the motherboard was screwed into the palmrest on the bottom. You should pin mod that CPU.

I don't remember what I did. I probably followed the service manual.

The keyboard stays put. I took mine apart and it is completely a bottom access deal. you take off the bottom case and bam there is the heatsink/proc.

don't forget to pin mod it. That 1.6ghz CPU will be around 2.1 if you pin mod it.

    San-LC:

How did your upgrade go? I am thinking of pulling a Pentium M 1.6 ghz out of an old Presario X1000 and putting it into my Presario V2205.

Did you end up following all of the steps in the service guide? Did you have to do anything with BIOS?

Any info you have would be appreciated.
