Hi everyone! I just got a new nc2400 Core Duo (i know, not the latest and greatest, but it's built like a tank and blows my old X61 as far as durability goes).

Anyhow, the processor in the unit is a U2500 Core Duo 1.20ghz, but it's always running at 790mhz for some reason, even when plugged in. I know on my old X61 there was a power management system wherein you could set the full speed of the processor and such. I don't see anything like that here on the HP/Compaq nc2400.

    Anyone know how?

    TIA!!!

your cpu has what is called speedstep. it will not use more cpu power than what is needed. so unless you are doing some sort of cpu intensive program, it will not use the full 1.2 ghz. you could use other programs to change the cpu speed if you wanted....rmclock or nhc for example.
