Hi! All,
Just planning to buy one nc6400 for me. anyone got it please make refference . You know don't want to buy something with problems. What really botheres me is Intel Graphics Media accelerator 950. How it work with video games. is it really worth of it ??? other notebook owners reviews with same accelerator would be highly apreciatable.
thank you in advance

Yeah it won't be good for games. If you want to play games the Asus A8jm or W3j, and Compal HGL30 are probably better choices.
-
I do understand that it will not be best for games, but playing with low resolution is acceptable for me, but as i heared Intel's accelerator 950 doesn't support direcX what you know about it people

I have the nc6400. Just get one with a dedicated graphics card. I have the 266 model which has an ATI graphics card with 128mb of dedicated memory. The 266 model isn't for sale on the hp website. I got mine through pcnation.com. HP only goes up to the 265 model on their web site. Plus, if you want the 6400, you either will have to wait until it's ready to ship from hp which is about a month or go through a reseller like me. I really like the computer. I don't think you'll be sorry if you get one of the upper end models of the nc6400.

There is a model that has the ATI x1300 which is still not great for gaming but would be tons better than the GMA 950.

I just ordered a nc6400 ... I hope I won't have to wait a month for one! They told me it would ship within 3-4 business days.
HP doesn't let you configure things anymore, you just have to buy what's there. However, if you want to make some changes in configuration not listed on the website, then they say it may take up to 4 weeks before it ships.

On another note, I haven't seen too many user opinions on the model. Are you satisfied with it?
I liked the fact that looks pretty plain, has a matt screen, pretty good specs, apparently quiet keyboard, and none of the flashy display or sparkly buttons as their mainstream models. Wished the hard drive were bigger, but I would have to wait a month for them to build one...
I wonder if anyone has any major complaints?
As far as service, I splurged on the extra on-site service. Any experience? Is it worth it? -
Is that model so rare that nobody has it with GMA 950. anyway in 2 weeks i ll have it in my office and will answer all you questions. (I am working in HP's Busines bpartner company) now i have the most powerful model of nc6400 in stock and it is so strong that it is near to mobile workstation then to notebook. graphics !!!!512mb(ATI) RAM 1 GB, 100GB HDD T2500.

Hi everyone,
I've had the HP nc6400 for almost a month now and I love it!
I have an old desktop system that used to take forever to download pictures off my SD card. Now I just stick the card into the SD slot on the front of the laptop and within a minute or so max my pictures are downloaded. I use the Kodak easyshare software and it works like a dream.
I have since hooked my notebook up to a 19" flatscreen monitor and wireless keyboard/mouse and it has speeded up my work tremendously.
Is this a machine for a gamer - well no unless its just the simple stuff - Zoo Tycoon and Rollercoaster work great though and kept my son entertained on our last flight.
By the way I'm not sure on the battery life but I forgot to charge it up the night before our flight and it lasted through delays at the airport and a 3 hour flight.
Solid build, 3 yr warrenty, dual core - I'm very happy with it so far. -
Guys DO NOT BUY models with Intel Media accelerator Card 950. They really suck. It is better to pay 100or 200$ more and buy modls with ATI X1300 (64MB)
Trust me i have just tested it and it is not worth of 1600$ -
On the other hand, there are many people like myself who do not play games. A person who doesn't need better 3D capabilities for their machine might want to save the $100 or $200.
