I experienced this problem since two weeks ago, everytime I boot my machine while on batteries it loads Windows XP but after that the screen goes black. Even if I power it down and power it up again the issue still persists. However when I plug the machine and try to boot it everything works fine.

What could be the problem? :(

I don't know, perhaps something is screwed up in the power management settings?

Just curious, if you boot the machine while plugged in, then run on batteries, about how long does your machine run for? Perhaps the battery pack is no good.

the machine runs for the entire 2.5-3 hours on batteries. It just needs to be initially plugged on boot though, which is strange. I've only encountered this issue 2 weeks ago, prior to that the machine is booting properly even on batteries.
