Well, I'd guess it depends on how much you want to spend, how big/heavy you want the unit, and what you will be doing with it.

The NX9110 is based on the Compaq R3000 series. It has an integrated video controller which is not the best option for hardcore gaming or highend graphics. It may do the job, but will be slower than a unit with dedicated graphics like the ZX5000. The Compaq R3000, HP ZX/ZV5000 series are all generally the same unit. They have some minor exterior changes, but internally, they're pretty much all the same (systemboard, compnonents, etc...).

This is a P4 based unit, so it will require a lot of battery power and therefore will give you short battery runtimes. If you're planning to be mobile a lot and away from an electrical socket, then I'd recommend getting the Pentium M/Centrino based units. They will give you 2x the battery life compared to a P4 system. Also, don't be too concerned that the Pentium M CPU's have such a low Ghz rate. After Intel came out with the Pentium M, the frequenecy scale got all messed up. The PM chips can do more operations per clock cycle compared to a P4, so therefore it doesn't have to be clock so high and that's what allows for the 4+hrs of battery life.

If you're looking for pure processing power, than go for a P4 system, but you should definitely consider a dedicated graphics controller. It'll help you in the long run.

If cost is an issue, you may also want to look into the Averatec 6100 series. They have a P4 CPU, with an excellent dedicated graphics card. The higher models also provide a DVD burner as a bonus. These units start at $1300 and go upto $1500. Another brand would be the eMachines M68xx. They don't have an Intel CPU, they use the AMD 64-Bit CPU's that provide a lot of computing power as well. They also have a very good graphics card (dedicated), lighter and also ranges approx $1500 after rebates.

Well, models similar to the ZV5000 would be the HP Pavilion ZX5000 and the Compaq R3000 series. They both have dedicated video cards. Make sure when you look at the Compaq, you look at the Intel P4 models rather than the AMD models. The reason is because the AMD models have the NVidia Geforce 4 420/440 video card. It's a bit out dated and may not last you 3 or more years. The Intel models have the ATI MR 9600 video card which is probably recommended. If this will not be very mobile (on the desk all the time), you may even want to look at the HP ZD7000 or the HP Compaq NX9500 (Business model). They have a very nice & hughe 17" widescreen LCD. This will make games and DVD watching VERY pleasurable. It is on the big side, but provides the same amount of power as the 15.4" models at about the same price (a bit more). Here in Canada, the NX9500 is $100 Canadian more than the ZD7000, but has a better video card & I think has a burner. Just checked, the NX9500 is not available in the UK yet.

Here's the model links available in the UK:

    HP ZX5100EA

HP ZD7200EA (ZD7100 Series also available)
    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/ho/WF06a/21675-38187-38191-38191-38191-7308271.html

    Compaq R3100EA (R3000EA also available)
    http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/uk/en/ho/WF25a/21675-38187-179483-179483-179483-4787727.html

I'm guessing the ZX5100 & R3100 have dedicated video, it doesn't indicate this on the UK site.
