For those that aren't aware the new dv6t Quad and dv7t Quad were just released by HP and are now available. They also issued three new coupons today, a couple of which work on these updates:

Didn't work for me

Make sure it's configured for $1,399 or more, you have to do upgrades. Also, it doesn't combine with the Academic or EPP discount, if you're logged in and have those discounts associated then you have to checkout as guest otherwise it'll always say coupons don't apply.
I just tried again, worked for me. -
Oh i see, I logged in an academic account that's why

$1000 for i7 + killer 650m.
is that in line with price for 2nd gen i7 + 6770m ?
looks like HP is going with nvidia this time around ?
that 1080p lcd upgrade is super expensive, considering the price difference is only $25 at laptopscreens.com -
Yes, with varying degrees of savings of course, depending on the week!
Correct, it is 6 - 7%. It's easy to qualify for, if you use this URL and then even if you're an alumnus, have a kid in any type of school or claim to be buying it for a student then you can use the discount. Often times the coupon discounts are better, but not always. -
Student discount does not work with the $400 coupon.
-
would order right now if they would ship to canada.
anyone in the states want to hold a laptop for me?
-
Right, student discount does not work with any HP coupons. You have to logout and checkout as guest or with another account if your HP profile is associated to a student discount.
-
good configure upgrades to reach $1399 seems to be:
1080p seems a must, more RAM (if you need it), faster HDD, mSSD, GT 650M (1 or 2GB depending on if its a dv6 or dv7) -
hmm is it only me or this generations dv7's are more expensive- even after coupon?
-
It just released what else would you expect

I expect the coupons and price to start to go down in about a month from now, when the other manufacturers "DELL?" releases their IB/650M laptops and the 21-day return period expires for people who just bought their DV quad's.

Is the performance of the mSSD any good? It would seem that simply bumping that up to 60+ gb to be a boot drive would be a lot more desirable than the 32 gb mSSD, but HP seems to be pricing the SDDs pretty agressively ($290 for 160gb upgrade from base harddrive, but I have no idea where they are sourcing them and it is pretty much a $2/gb price, somewhere around 50% to double what a lot of ssd's are going for these days).
