For a second time the hinges are starting to come loose. Under warranty I sent back the laptop and they tightened them.

Is there anyway to simply open the laptop and do this myself? Is there a place I can get instructions to do this?

    Thank you. =)

Is it the Beats Audio version?

Yes, it's the Beats Audio version. Is it a known issue?

From looking at the manual I guess I'm better having HP fix it again. Something tells me if it's a design flaw it'll just keep repeating, making it unreliable for travel.

    Hi escapedturkey,

You mentioned you had HP repair the hinge issue. I would recommend contacting HP regarding this issue. I work for HP and if you need assistance regarding this please email me your product and contact information to [email protected]. Please include Attn: Veronica-NBR in the subject line.

The hinges got worse a 3rd or 4th time. HP is replacing the laptop with a different, more robust, model. Very good support. The Total Care Accidental Damage Protection is worth the value of the laptop itself; if anyone gets a laptop, be sure to include that in your budget; it's a must have. A special thanks to Veronica from HP for the patience, follow up, and great support.

I have had my pavilion dm1 for just over a year now and the plastic slots holding screws for hinge have broken off with the back of computer becoming undone altogether. I;ve never dropped my computer nor do I tilt the screen as far back as it can go yet this has happened. I think HP needs to revise this model.
