The other day a water bottle spilt in my bag onto the laptop screen and I've purchased a new one which arrived this morning. It is the exact same model - B116XW03

I attached the single connector to the laptop, put it all back together. On powering on the objects on the screen are only visible if I shine a torch directly onto it, though an image is being displayed.

The function keys, nor power management settings change the screen brightness. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

    check your inverter.

it is a long white strip which has 2 wires, pink and white going into it. you need to make sure the LVDS (lcd) cable plugs into that too.

You have a backllight problem. Its not coming on.

Thanks, but I don't think I have an inverter as it is an LED, not LCD screen and there is only the single connector lead from the laptop to the screen. Plugging the old water-soaked screen in, the backlight comes on no problems. The new screen is completely dark.

I've contacted the seller though won't be hearing anything back until Monday.

ah, if thats the case, then it's dead screen or faulty cable.
