HP DV 9000/9700 laptop?

Anyone here have a HP dv9000 or dv9700? I just got one and I hope I don't have a ton of issues I just read on here about. I have after 2-3 days had the dvd disc door not open manually due to the button hung up. My wife spent hours on the phone to get them to send another one instead of sending it in since I already paid to optimize it. I will be using the electronic method to open the door for now on. Its a 3gb memory and 250 gb hard drive setup with the givia 7150 or 7200 or something like that. I bought it at sams and if you guys think i should not keep it tell me know and i will take it back and get something else. I paid 950.00 +tax for it. Noone else carries that one they all carry the 2gb memory version which is the next model down that sames carries and everyone else is good 50.00 more or more for them.

How long is the battery life and how much for a extra battery?
Also without going with mcalfee and norton what would you recommend on antivirus and spyware protection?

 

Battery life is determined by many things like screen brightness and size, size and rating of the battery, CPU speed, etc. How much you pay for it will depend on where you buy it. I personally use ZoneAlarm in conjuction with AVG Free. Both are free and work quite well. Most paid virus software are system hogs in my experience.
