.We are a repair facility and here are some facts about the HP DV8000. I did some research and found that as early as December 2006 HP was aware that consumers and at least one national publication had complained about the faulty keyboard problem (which is really a motherboard problem at its root) concerning this laptop series. This was known to HP long before the warranty on this laptop came close to expiring. It would have been a simple matter to warn its customers about the problem before hiding behind an expired warranty. This has definite shades of the old Ford Pinto case where cost of fixing was weighed against damages down the road.

The original problematic motherboard was 417136-001 and this board was replaced by 430180-001 after some of the problems came to the forefront. If HP had notified current owners of the available fix during the warranty period, these owners could have used their warranty instead of finding out later that so sorry your warranty has expired.

If you look at the ZD7000 class action settlement and the HP free fix on numerous models, it is a wonder that the DV8000 was not included. After your long battle with the alleged foreign "techs" to get to a case manager. Google HP "case manager" and read the results. There is an intentional no call from case manager on the first escalation. Anyone with HP Notebook problems preferably with DV8000 or DV1000 problems please email me with experiences. My email is [email protected]. HP has been denying that there is a problem
