Is there a link for the Compact Remote Control to purchase for the DV1000? I didn't see it under accessories through www.hpshopping.com

The remote control is not a special link....unless they've moved it, it's buried in the options, with some unrelated-sounding other options.
Look for the price, you may find it faster that way...it was only $14.99 or $14.95, can't remember which. -
Does anyone know if you can buy it seperately (on a later date, perhaps)?

Seems like the fastest way to get that answer would be to simply call the people at hpshopping.com, huh?
I can't imagine why they wouldn't sell it later. Especially if you can reference your original order number, you might get it at a better price. Say you were supposed to get it but you didn't. They'll say you didn't pay for it, then you tell them you'll pay for it and now you want to order it. No ordeal. -
I just called HP customer service; the CSR I spoke to said that it's only bundled with the system. Oh well...

My PC hasn't been 'shipped' yet. I will ask if it can be added on. Otherwise I will be looking on Ebay. There is another remote control for $24 or $29, I wonder if that one works....

This will really sound awful, but-- if your notebook hasn't shipped, you might be in luck.
I called up to modify the options on my unit and it hadn't shipped yet. They could not change the build, but they did tell me to order a brand new one, and refuse delivery on the first one. Then, when they get the first one back, they'll give you a credit on that one.
The only catch is that your credit card needs to have room on it to carry both units until the first one gets back to them. Of course, that is only about 2 days.
The unexpected bonus for me was that the pricing had gone down between builds, so I actually got a better unit for less money.
They may find a way to send your remote on later, rather than have to build a 2nd one. I think if you refuse delivery on one, they have to call it "refurbished" and they'll lose money. So, you might as well try-- but do it before yours ships.
P.S., both of mine shipped early, so don't waste time if your ship date is coming up. -
Once configured, it (the remote control) cannot be added on. However the HP representative said they will be selling it soon....
