Are these identical machines? Can anybody tell me about the performance of the integrated video card. I like all the specs but that. I am not really gamer sort, but it would be nice to play doom3 once in a while.

Doom3? On shared memory video? Not a prayer. A Radeon 9200 or GeForce 5200 might be tolerable for a non-serious gamer. New notebooks must be coming, what with the zx5000 series disappearing, stay tuned.

There is no way in hell this can handle Doom 3 or any of those new FPS games.

These machines are almost the same. The DV1000 has the QuickPlay feature, option for the remote, extra media buttons above the keyboard and two headphone jacks.

Well, just so you know, I've owned for a couple of days a V2140, and I've tried Doom 3 for the kicks.

It runs at around 10~15 FPS at 640x480@low settings. Not playable, but it runs ;)

Basically, Doom 3, Far Cry, Unreal Tournament 2004 and games like that are a No No for the V2000, DV1000, or any laptop with integrated graphics.

The DV1000 has the QuickPlay feature, an option for a remote control that goes into the PCMCIA slot, media buttons just on top of the keyboard, and two small "Ok" and "Back" buttons just to the right of the directional pad.

The V2000 has the ability to scroll up/down and left/right, whereas the DV1000 can only scroll up/down. Also, the V2000 has a small light above the Scroll Lock button indicating that it is on, but the DV1000 does not.
