I'm planning to buy this notebook with 2 Gb DDR2. Is a good idea to buy the notebook from hp with only 256mb and then buy the two sticks aftermarket? Or it doesn't make sense?

(In Hp shopping I could get the two sticks 667 Mhz for u$s 300, i think aftermarket maybe little expensive, isn't it?)

Anybody know what type of memory this notebook use?
Or if any of these would work with the DV1000T? Or are them Desktop PC memory?

The ones you are linking to are indeed desktop memory. You've got the right speed, wrong size. You need 200 pin SO-DIMMS. One of these should work. And it sounds like the price HP is offering it for is pretty close to what it is selling for aftermarket, judging from the current prices on Newegg

Doubtful. Unless that's the cause for the continued delays :)

    Maybe.

I ask in the Hp shopping chat and they told me 667 Mhz, but reading in the specifications here
    http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/s...otebooks/hp_pavilion&storeName=computer_store
    It says 533 only.

I think I will going to buy the notebook with only 256Mb and then upgrade buying the modules aftermarket.

Anybody know if this void HP warranty?

    Thanks again

P.D: are the Corsair or Mushkin memory good for notebook???
P.D 2: Best buy upgrade price of the modules to 199 :(

HP's parts store lists both 667 and 533MHz RAM modules for the dv1000t. But I don't know which one they use. In any case getting the minimum memory from HP is the best option and adding memory wont void your warranty. It is considered to be an user upgradable part.

Corsair, Crucial, Kingston, OCZ are the top brand names. Other memory manufacturers are also OK in most cases but they might have a higher failure rate than the branded memory.
