I recently bought a used T40 for myself and i'm loving it however my g/f would like something more mainstream and more of a glossy screen and widescreen as well.

I've been searching around and i'll be doing some media work in the future with pictures, DVDs, and video editing and i also love the fact about not having to boot the computer to watch DVDs and the remote is handy.

    HOWEVER

I've been a little dismayed lately with all the people having problems doing a clean install on their HP. I mean does it REALLY come with that much extra software? I know the partition takes up 8mb but it isn't that bad is it?

I can always just stop the services and programs that start on startup as well right?

Just looking to see if i'm making a wise choice.

    THANKS!

That's 8 GIGAbytes. And the freakin' games! Some are bigger than 700 mb. There's probably close to 50 of them.

That said, its a beautiful computer, and my biggest complaint is what I've just stated, plus not getting the OS & driver disks.
