Last night, I got home and plugged my speakers into the headphone jack and strangely, when I played music sound would come out of the internal speakers, but not the speakers that I had plugged in. I tried plugging the speakers into the other headphone jack and even tried using earphones, but it seems like the laptop doesn't detect anything plugged into either headphone jack. I've tried uninstalling the audio drivers, and reinstalling them with new and old drivers. I also tried reinstalling UAA drivers, and that didn't help as well. Has anyone had the same problem and if so, how did you fix it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you make sure that the headphones were firmly inserted into the jack?

If it isn't that, then its a hardware issue. Call up HP and they will get your notebook repaired.

Yea, I made sure it was plugged in all the way. I tried plugging in headphones and also reloaded windows. Looks like I need to send it in to HP.

i have major issues with my soundboard too - laptop speakers died a while back so i use external speakers now. Until today, both headphone jacks worked. However, #2 stopped working today so I can only use #1...SUX

At least your headphone jack still works :). What's so strange is it just suddenly stopped working.

The same here. The headphone jacks suddenly stopped working two weeks ago. No driver update, even OS upgrade solved the problem. I guess it's hardware related. What is the procedure on sending it to HP for repair? I mean is there anything special I should pay attention to?

    PS. It's a dv9000 bought 6 months ago.
