I was looking into purchasing an HP dv2000t. One concern of mine was the battery life when equipped with the NVIDIA Geforce 7200...

My question is what would the battery life be with the video card and:

    6 cell standard
    6 cell high capacity
    12 cell

The battery life during movies (without OS running) would be the best indicator for me.

*** I was also curious about how much heat this unit will output with the video card installed, particularly when used on your lap.

    Thanks!!!

I do not have the numbers for your post.

I have a dv2122tu with the Intel GMA. The reason I opted for the Intel GMA is because:

    a) Better battery life vs the nvidia
    b) I am not into gaming
    c) Less heat output when compared to the nvidia

Although my unit has an Intel GMA, it does get a little hot but not unbearable. I do not think I would want to keep the notebook on my lap for a period longer then 2 hours.

I have a dv2100 with the nvidia 7200 go card and the standard 6 cell battery. I don't watch DVDs with it so I don't know what the battery life or heat is like. Maybe mine is a dud but I can't get the battery to last longer than 1.5 hours if I'm doing basic internet surfing. Also, it's way too hot to leave on my lap without a notebook cooling pad.

With wireless turned off, and the screen dimmed to the lowest level, mine lasts about 2 hours when I watch some divx movies.

I just tried it on the airplane.

faint34: with the new pavillions, you CANNOT watch dvds without booting up your OS. I dont know why they took this feature away. Now when you hit the DVD button, it boots up vista and launches their quickplay software.

    thanks fant...

I think I will be going in another direction if I can't even watch a full DVD movie on a plane. The price was also just increased $70 on HP's website with a 80gb instead of 120gb hard drive. Very strange seeing as it is an old model.

Now its time to search for a relatively cheap 14.1 laptop again..

I have the same config as you, and get almost 4 hours rutime when watching DVD movies. A 12 cell battery is definitely the way to go.

I got a 12 cell battery from notebookbattery.com. You can visit this link to get the HP DV2000t battery.
