I just configured one dv2000z in Sunday for the great price of 700$ and the other day I checked online to purchase it, but unfortunately I notice that my cart has been emptied. Thats ok, I check back again to configure it for one more time but there is no link?!
Then I contacted a person from the customer support center and they told me that the dv2000z has been discontinued :(

What a piece of shame I say :nah:

Hmm... the Compaq v3000t and v3000z are also gone now from HP's website. Only the dv2000t remains for 14.1" models. Very odd.

I would think that indicates a possible update in HP's product line.

HP will be updating their product line, yes.

But not until Santa Rosa is released.

Yeah, it does seem a little odd to discontinue the current product line if the Santa Rosa stuff won't be shipping til the end of May (which is what I last heard) or early June.

I wonder if maybe they might be getting Santa Rosa-based systems out in early May instead.

doesn't make sense though, the dv2000z is an AMD notebook so Santa Rosa probably isn't the reason why it has been discontinued. I might be wrong though

The AMD platform is on a different schedule than Intel. Perhaps HP has new AMD/ATI Radeon X1250 DirectX 10 chipset notebooks on their way?

If HP is updating the dv2000 line though (new designs and features, etc.) then they would pretty much have to update the AMD-based version as well.

Hmm...There might be a features update but a design update so soon...the dv2000/V3000 has been only in the market for 8 - 9 months. I dont think they would be updating these things design wise so soon.

What I think is that most probably they are trying to get rid of all the Core2 Duo's so there won't be any of them when Santa Rosa arrives.

Who knows. Perhaps it might not be a radical re-design update, or perhaps they are adding things like SideShow external displays, etc.

I personally really like HP's current notebook designs, so I agree that there isn't a particular need for a major design overhaul. But some tweaks, etc. might be in order.

    That's what I'm thinking.

While the Intel models get new chipsets, processors, etc, the AMD models get more graphic options, etc.

On this note, I did notice an update in their desktops last night as I browsed. So you might be correct.

The new desktop offerings look dead sexy.

Yeah, I saw some of the new HP desktops at my local Best Buy. Definitely an improvement over the previous HP desktops (I think that's the good thing about the "piano black" finish concept, since it frankly can make a lot of things look nicer).

They go along well with the current HP notebooks though.

Well, the dv2000z is back in hp's site. So much for our hopes of a refresh. :D
