My brother left my dv2500 near a open window and it got rained on.

When I boot up my laptop it brings up the HP start screen with all the options to go to different menus (F2 for this F3 for that). After that screen leaves, the screen goes blank and an incessant short beeping continues.

Now when I press cntrl + M during the HP screen, it goes to ask if I want to start my computer in safe mode or normally. If I choose to boot regularly, it just brings me to the login screen. When I try to login, the box fills up with characters after I type a few characters.

My question is, can i narrow down what the problem is.

    Cliff Notes:
If I just let my computer start, it brings me to the HP screen then goes blank and starts beeping (short beeps)

If I hit ctrl +M during the hp start screen it brings me to the login screen. When I try to type in a password the character box simply fills up.

Wow thank you guys so much. I removed the keyboard and the beeping noise stopped and it worked just fine. Thank you, you guys are lifesavers. I really hope you guys know that.

HP support first told me hard drive, than motherboard then the third consultant wouldn't even talk to me without a warranty. This is a week after the warranty ended. They kept pushing it on me to buy a new warranty. I was about to order a new hd but then decided to let forums do their magic and they have. Much thanks.
