Small laptops don't have the best heat dissipation because everything is crammed together so it will fit. It will run a little hotter, but if it was too hot where it would hurt you or damage the hardware, they wouldn't sell it.

with nvidia graphics it gets uncomfortably hot at times, would recommend integrated x3100 gfx, harddrive is a major source of heat in the 2500t, maybe config the lowest hd, and swap in a better brand (seagate or wd instead of the cheap hitachi's .

If you use it for browsing / web processing / viewing photos, set the power setting to "Power saver" and it runs just fine (a little warm, that's all). I don't know about playing movies / games, but if you can do it with reduced power (the power settings are customizable), heat is not an issue.

I have the integrated graphics in my dv2500 and I don't know if that makes any difference or not but I have a 12 cell battery and use the machine on and off all day in my car for my business and it never gets hot to the point of being annoying. It gets warm but not hot at all. My Asus get hotter than this hp but still not to the point of being uncomfortable. As far as the web cam problem, I haven't had any problems but many have. Also if you run a search, I've seen a few fixes out there.

What is your harddisk brand ? Hitachi, Seagate or other ???

I have Hitachi 160 GB with Nvidia 8400 graphics,
it is really getting hot sometimes, especially left-bottom part because of harddisk heat...

I replaced wd160gig with a hitachi 200gig 7200rpm drive in my dv2500 and it rocks. The heat is about the same as the other drive, and the battery lasts about the same as before the swap. But you can tell the performance jump. My config is 2.2ghz proc,2gig ram, 8400gs.

If you use RmClock and undervolt your computer you can lower the temp by almost 15 degrees celcius. I have a dv2500t and my roommate has a dv6500t and now on both computers the fan generally can never be heard and the computer is luke warm at best. Search the forum for the guides to undervolting. It's safe and pretty easy.
