hey guys, my CTO Dv2700t arrived yesterday. Here are the specs.

    Vista Home Premium 32bits
    Core 2 duo T8100
    3gb ram
    250gb hitachi Hard drive
    Nvidia Geforce 8400gs
Wlan + Blutooth + fingerprint reader

Everything seems to be OK, just a couple of things.

    1) The hard drive is noisier than what i´m used to in notebooks. Is the Hitachi HD known for being noisy? A coworker of mine recently got a Dell 1525 and the drive is virtually silent.

    2) I can´t believe how much bloatware comes installed. From trial versions of office, to The Sims. Does the clean vista install with no activation works with the HP2700?? any recommendations before i move on with a clean install?

    Thanks!!

    No idea about the HD.

For the Clean Install just use Orev's Guide. If you have the WAU DVD go for it. Will help you feel much better when it is all done!

I have a Hitachi Travelstar 100GB 7200RPM HD, and it's a bit noisy compared to most modern notebook HDs. I just think that most Hitachi HDs are noisy, period. I wouldn't be to concerned with it. I prefer noisy HDs over quiet ones anyway, go figure!

thanks Teraforce.. I´ve had a lot of hard drives in the many computers i´ve owned. So i know there are some noiser than others. Just wanted to check if this one brand in particular has noisier drives than most.

    :)

Hey, I have the exact same laptop with the same specs, and I don't think the hard drive is noisy.

No two computer parts will ever be the same. Do you have the same brand and model hard drive? Hitachi HTS542525K9SA00

I dont think he could use Orev's Guide to clean install anymore. SP1 patches the way to save the OEM product key and since he received the notebook yesterday it has SP1 by default, supposedly.

No it still works.. i installed SP1 integrated fine with the ABR

Its not a big deal anyway, he can always just call MS and take 5mins to get the activation code

Hey, in answer to your question, I do in fact have the exact same brand and model of hard drive in my hp dv2700t. Mine isn't that noisy. I admit that when you seem to be in a super quiet room, you can hear it.
