    HP DV2745TX lots of lines though the Screen?

    Hi can any one tell me whats wrong with my laptop this is what the screen looks like when on

    and this is what it looks like when i push FN and F4 they start from the top and work there way down

    any ideas?

    Connect it to an external monitor. If it outputs fine, then it's your LCD screen. If the lines still happen, it's your GPU

    i couldnt get any thing to come up on the external monitor because windows isn't installed, will the screen work out side windows? thanks

    You can download a live distro (maybe GPARTED?) as an ISO file, burn it on a CD, and boot off that in order to check

    i couldnt get to come up one the screen but i can hear it load into windows but because theres on drivers install i cant test it, could it be the onboard video ?

    I had to do some googling but I found the cause: "Video Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 8400M GS" -it's one of those affected by bad materials.

    Replace the motherboard and you'll get few years more. If you are sport enough, there's alternative repairs available but they are not 100% certain.
