Hey Notebookreview.com
I'm a first time user that's in desperate need of help.
I purchased an HP DV2911US off ebay (factory sealed from seller) back in mid August. I received the laptop and started it up. As the laptop was installing the factory crapware started installing. About halfway through the installation I get a the blue screen of death. I restarted the laptop and the factory install started again. This time it completed.
About 20 minutes into using the laptop to check the web, I get the blue screen of death again. By now I'm pissed, cause a brand new laptop should not be having these errors. I call HP and they tell me to try a Factory Restore. After about 3 hours of Restore, I turn the laptop on and within a few minutes Blue Screen of Death.
I again call HP and they tell me that it's a defective Hard Drive. They send a box to my place, so that I can send that laptop to them. After 9 weeks of waiting I finally get the laptop back. They say they replaced the motherboard and the Hard Drive. Again within 10 minutes of using I get a Blue Screen.
I'm seriously ready to bash this thing repeatedly with a baseball bat. I don't want to deal with HP anymore. I can't wait another 9 weeks so that they could fix this. I've spoken to a friend who works IT and he tells me that it's most likely defective (BAD) RAM. Anybody with any suggestions? I desperately need help.

Go into Windows/Minidump. See if there is a .dmp file.
-
there should be an error message on the blue screen, right? That should help to identify the problem?
-
bsod is a driver software related problem, not hardware related.
-
Yes there is a minidump file from when the blue screen first happened this morning mini101508-01.dmp
-
Ok, Zip that minidump, and upload it here as an attachment. Also in that zip file included the SysInfo .NFO file.
(Run > Msinfo32 > Save as .NFO > Zip ^)
I'll see if I can help you with a bugcheck. -
Thank You Andy,
Give me a few minutes. I'm not the most tech savy person. -
I'm trying to zip the file... But it says Access denied.
-
Copy it to the desktop, or somewhere out of the Windows folder, and then zip.
-
This is the minidump file
You're gonna need to help me with the system info fileAttached Files:

NVM the nfo file.
How much RAM does the notebook have ?
Download memtest86+, and run it for about 14-16 hours. Looks like the memory modules are corrupt. -
Will the memtest program correct the problem. Or just help identify the actual problem.
-
Oh and the notebook has 3 GB RAM.
-
It will just detect the problem, and if there is one, you'll have to replace the module. I am not sure about it, as MSDN lists it as "An unknown memory management error occurred".
-
Andy I really don't have time to let the computer run 14-16 hour. As you see I'm pretty frustrated with it after waiting 9 weeks to get it back. If I have to replace the RAM out of my cost, so be it. Do you think the computer has bad RAM???
-
Its best to run the memtest for at least 7 passes.
The code is 0x1a_ 41790, and msdn doesn't recognise it, so it is hard to say. I'll have to look a bit deeper. -
Andy
Thank You Again for the help. I at least know what the problem is now. I'll run the memtest for the 14 hours and report back tomorrow or the day after. Again Thank You. -
The laptop crashed again.
Andy or anyone else. Can you check the minidump file to see if it's the same error.Attached Files:
