Doesn't list full specs yet, so hard to tell if what was expected is actually there.

brianstretch Notebook Virtuoso
It looks like a cheaper/fatter version of the dv1000. Same 14" widescreen, slightly different shared memory GPU. What was the point? If I'm going to buy a notebook that weak it'd better be as thin and light as possible, and the dv4000 isn't.
-
Actually it appears to have a 15.4 widescreen, not the 14. I am still waiting for the 6000 series to be released. If I could find a 14 widescreen with dedicated video and an expresscard slot, that would be even better.
-
Yeah..Atleast they should have offered an option for a dedicated graphics card..or maybe they will offer the graphics option for the ZV6000 series which is also a 15.4" laptop just to differentiate between the two.
Why in the world did they increase the screen size[?]

I don't see the point of buying this notebook. Why did they stick integrated graphics on it!?

I like the looks of the DV4000 and its larger screen. Btw..there appears to be over a hundred dollars price difference between the compaq version(v4000) and the hp (dv4000). Part of that is the fact that only the dv4000 has the quick play feature. Also, for some reason hp is charging $99 for the 12 volt battery upgrade while compaq is charging $25. My customized notebooks came to $1177 for the v4000 and $1290 for the dv4000.

There has been a lot of speculation about this machine and now that it's finally out, it's clearly a Sonoma version of the DV1000 (based on the blurb about the GMA 900). Unfortunately they increased the size of the unit, but the benefits of the integrated GMA 900 graphics card make this a compelling alternative to the dv1000. I guess I'll have to wait to see it in the stores, but I'm pretty excited. Tom's Hardware has a great article on the Sonoma chipset...

How is the integrated gfx card in the dv4000 any different than the integrated gfx card in the dv1000/v2000?
-
The DV1000 had the Intel Extreme Graphics 2[xx(] and the upgraded, newer version is the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900..They also upgraded the chipset..
Here is a review...

It looks like the dv4000 does not support DDR2, just standard DDR333, forget about dual channel DDR2 [
