Hey, zt3000...I know a little something about those.

Mine has worked great since I bought it in 2004. I replaced the hard drive because I wanted a larger/faster one. It's been solid and still looks pretty good to boot. When mine was new I could squeeze 3 hours out of the battery. Now the battery is shot and it will only run for about 50 minutes.

well we wud need the specs to tell u which is better

also why are you buying an old laptop? can't afford a newer one?

thing about buying a used one is that the components of a laptop wear out faster and are harder to replace than desktop PCs

The dv4000 is a generation onewer than the zt3000so FWIW the dv4000 will have newer components and overall they will be pretty similar. Some d4000's with the X700 graphics cards had some overheating issues but the rest of the series had no problems. Aviod either one if you can but between the two the dv4000 is better.

It is a pretty decent budget notebook but the stock battery is only a 4 cell 32Wh, so dont expect it last long on battery. There is also a Pentium M version available it might be more expensive than the Celeron M based system but it would definately be worth the extra price.

yup celeron is useless for battery life, they usually have less than 1 hour in them and that is with wireless off, lowest brightness and no activity.

but how are you buying this as new? these are outdated models and how much are you paying for them?

hmm i didnt know they had new models of that anymore. the specs in hp.com make it seem quite old

well its a good or bad depending on what you want it for and how you gonna use it. are there any reviews on it?

like said before its not really good for battery life. its ok for web surfing and that kind of stuff, nothing too demanding so should be alright ;)
