    HP DV4040 HP Mobile Remote Problem

    Just to let ya' know...you'll probably have to perform a BIOS update to get your remote to work. You can find the update at:

    I'm very pleased with this laptop and the remote is very cool (now that it's working!), but I think it was pretty sad that HP would release a product that doesn't work without what I think is a MAJOR update (...or at least a possible system killing one if the power goes out, or you unplug a USB device, or the creek rises, etc!). ...lemme' guess: maybe the "Made in COMMUNIST FREAKING CHINA" label may have had a little something to do with HP's little QC problem!

    By the way, I bought it just a week ago for $1529 at my Air Force Base Exchange...nice bright display, but the hard drive is way slow at 4200RPM (...but a 100GB of 4200RPM made up for it in my mind :) )
