Has any members had any success in upgrading ram on HP DV5 1392NR lap? My current config is HP DV5 1392NR running stable on Intel T9600 @ stock settings and 4GB of Ram, 2 GB stick x 2, w/ latest BIOS, Chipset & video drivers updated. I have try 5 GB Ram, 4 Gb stick on the outside slot & 1 GB stick on the inside slot and vice versa, but results were unstable after booting in Win 7 Ultimate w/o any issues - video would freeze & numbers running in background. Thnks for any suggestion.

You have to use matched sticks of the same capacity. It's possible a 4GB + 2GB would work.

I'm running two 4GB sticks and a T9800 o/c using dual IDA to 3.0Ghz. How'd I do it? Using a modified BIOS that allows Dual IDA with ThrottleStop. See DV5's owners lounge last 10 or so pages for link to BIOS.

Thnks for your help & will try it out. Weird, but why would it matter if one stick is 1 GB vs. 2 Gb stick - it's not working in synchronous dual channel anymore? I also though about putting in an extreme CPU but the price break vs. benefits could not be justified since I'm using it for children games, movies and surfing. What is your boot time w/ that CPU? The fastest I have been able to get was 12 - 20 sec as measured by Bootracer - almost as fast as my desktop running w/ an SSD.
