Have you tried in safe mode? I have no idea if it will work but if you haven't tried, I'm guessing it's worth a shot.

You didn't mention what OS you are using but QuickPlay Direct only works with Windows XP. It will not work with Vista.

In older models when the laptop was off, pressing Quickplay button will instruct the BIOS to search HPA (Host-Protected Area) partition, the partition where QuickPlay direct was located.

I have no experience installing QuickPlay Direct for DV5 series, however, for dv2500 or dv6500 or dv9500 and above, HP had erased features for QuickPlay Direct in BIOS setting. Pressing Quickplay button will only instruct the BIOS to look for active (boot) partition.

Without this feature, regardless the unavailable drivers, installing Quickplay will be useless.

    Hi Rief.

My machine have the the functionality of quickplay, it initially worked well.

I used the tutorial for Quickplay on this forum, but don't work.

I lost my HD and now I'm trying to install using the QPD 2.0. The QPD v.1.0 does not work, unfortunately (boot but after read the linux initialization CapsLock key and cursor flash, no more activity .

Anyone have the link to the QPD 2.0 CD?

    More information:

On the system bios, I have only the common settings, nothing for Quickplay. I tray to use the initial bios for this machine, don't work too... No links for partition or another information.

Would you elaborate more about your words on "My machine have the the functionality of quickplay, it initially worked well" ? I would very pleased, if I had made a wrong statement, since I do have interest installing QPD for my laptop. :)

By assuming it was work initially, did you press QuickPlay button when the laptop was off? If it did work it will boot to Quickplay partition and the only working menu ONLY Quickplay noting else.

The quickplay worked with the original windows. Phone contacts with HP informed me that I should reinstall the system (Windows Vista) to get the feature again. but I use the new HD, lost partitions, besides using the Vista Ultimate .... ie, the alternative is to install indirectly, using the QPD 2.0 or one that works ...
