    Hi,

I installed the latest Nvidia drivers (179.48), Since I then when the video turns off the laptop does not respond any more and I have a black screen. I uninstalled the drivers and I reinstalled the original HP (179.04) and I still have the same issue.
BTW I uninstalled the latest video drivers using the control panel. Am I missing something ??

    Thx

sometimes nVidia leaves files behind. try this app. it will remove leftover files left behind: http://www.ccleaner.com/

other than that, try to run a benchmark or stress test on the video to make sure the actual hardware is ok if the above doesnt work for you.

I tried already and still the same :(. I ran the internal Vista benchmark and it does not complain. Which other benchmark do you recommend? Maybe 3DMark

i had 3d mark in mind as well. if the vista video benchmark atleast does some basic tests and passes, your hardware should be ok. id asume its some sort of software/driver issue hanging around somewhere. are there any bios updates that may deal with this issue? if this started right after your installed that driver then for sure its a driver issue.

I tried the 3DMarks and it does not find any issue. My problem startted soon after the installation of the latest Nvidia drivers. I am trying to stay away from reinstall Vista
