I have read around about people who re-formatted their XP Media Center Edition computers to Business or Professional Edition or whatever but nothing says anything about those of us who formatted our XP Media Center Edition machine to install Vista.

I recently upgraded from XP Media Center Edition 2005 to Vista Home Premium with Media Center but once the install was finished, I realized my remote control no longer works. I have repaired the quick launch buttons such as video out and brightness... That's not the problem.

I have read about quickplay 2.0 and 3.0 but all i can find is information regarding XP.

    These are my Specs:

    HP Pavilion DV5000 notebook computer
ATI Radeon Express 200M series graphics card.
Windows Vista Home Premium W/Media Center
    AMD Turion 64 processor 32bit
    2GIG's of RAM.

Does anyone know what I would need to do repair my remote control? I have tons of time at night and am not un-willing to re-format the HDD if necessary.

Please any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

    Dan.

    try the following:
    - check the remote batteries
    - make sure you have the drivers installed for the consumer IR port

Ok batteries are good(they're brand new - bought 3 and tried all of em) but it still will not work. How do I go about checking to see if the drivers for the Consumer IR port are installed and working?

Edit:: Nevermind... I turned off my computer and let it sit for a while and then hit the power button on the remote and what do you know... It worked. Now all of the buttons work. I don't know why it wasn't working before but it is now and I'm not gonna argue with that.
