I have a hp dv5129us laptop. Suddenly it has started rebooting constantly. It flashes a blue screen for a second with something about "the bios in this system is not fully ACPI complant" Now I don't understand because this laptop is a little over a year old and we have never had any problems with it.
After the brief flash it goes to a black screen in which it says that it was shut down improperly and gives me the choice for safe mode, normal windows, safe mode with command prompt ETC. Only problem, it will not go to any of these. It will try to restart and then flash the blue screen for a second and I am back to the black screen. I can get into the BIOS but I don't know what to do when I get there. I tried resetting it to the default but it wouldn't take. I tried HP support but all they could tell me was that I needed to send it in and it would cost about $381 and then only a 90 day warrenity.
    Can anybody help

I appreciate everyone who took the time to look at my post, even though you had no solution to offer me. I thought that I would let you know that I found the solution to my particular situation. It turns out that one of the memory sticks in the computer was bad. As soon as I took out the bad stick, the computer booted right up. It took a lot of research on the internet and reading a lot of forums and a lot of try and fail before I stumbled across someone's suggestion that the memory might be bad. I figured that I had nothing to lose and gave it a try.

I have a dv5100 series notebook. i'm trying to upgrade the memory. I've found one of the memory locations on the back of the notebook but can't find the other.
    I would appreciate any assistance.
