I'm going to apologize upfront for, most likely, posting under the wrong heading. I was not sure where to put this and was unsuccessful in finding anything in my searches; I'm not the most computer literate.

Real quick: I am the proud owner of a HP DV5T. I want to get all of the crap off of the machine, but I am not sure what all I can uninstall without screwing something up. Is there a list of things I can uninstall somewhere? I really didn't want to buy more software to uninstall other software, so I need some help.

    Thanks for any advice,

    Bob

    ComputerBob,

I tried deleting all the junk as well but gave up after a few hours. It's so much easier just to format and start everything fresh and clean.

Search around for Vista clean install for HP or something like that and you should be able to find a guide on how to do it. All you need to have is a Vista media DVD and a small program that will save your license key so you can apply it back after the install. I did this with no issues at all.

PM if you need further help.

    Check this threat:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=285768&highlight=uninstall+hp+bloatware

Or search for Uninstall HP bloatware

Or simply disable all of HP bloatware at start up. You don't physically remove them, but disable and don't allow these bloatwares automatically run at start up, Windows will load faster .

Start -->Run-->type msconfig then press Enter
Select the tab Start Up, then uncheck programs you don't want
