    Hello there,

I was wondering if its possible to completely disable, like turn off, the touch sensitive quick launch buttons at the top of the DV5T?

They've been nothing but a pain in the *** since I got my laptop. With the original drivers, pushing any one of them caused the buttons to spaz out out of control half the time. I upgraded to the newest drivers, and then the mute button stayed red no matter what. I uninstalled then reinstalled the drivers that were provided. Now I'm back to square one.

Can I just turn them off altogether? I don't even wanna see the lights anymore. It's a shame such a nice laptop is plagued with such buggy command buttons. =(

Well, the **** volume buttons decided to spaz out again. The volume meter just kept popping up, I restarted, still doing it. I uninstalled the drivers, still doing it.

I finally got it working, all half assed. I installed the new version of the "HP Quick Launch buttons," 6.40 F1, and uninstalled the "HP Quick Touch buttons" driver.

Now it works normally, just doesn't make that God awful clicking sound. Not a bad thing though. Let's see how long until it goes crazy again.

I'd still perfer to turn the whole thing off completely if possible.

Here is the suggested correction for the problem. I used it myself and it seemed to work. Power off the laptop completely and unplug the power cord. Take out the battery. With the battery out and the cord unplugged, press and hold in the power button for 15 seconds or more. Then put the battery back in and the cord if you want it, and power up the computer. The buttons should be fixed. It is supposed to have something to do with static building up on the motherboard or something. I thought it was a joke, but like I said, I tried it, and it worked.
