It's a dv6, regular screen (no LED), 250gb hard drive, 4gb ram and a intel core 2 duo t4300 cpu.
i am so used to my dv7 with the t9600 processor that i feel that the t4300 will be slow for win7.... what do you guys think?
the unit is $499 and it will be a total of about $550 after taxes... is this worth it? should i hold off and get a more powerful unit?
thanks for the replies, gang!

i am honestly not even in the market for a laptop but this one is 'on clearance' - regular price was $649 although i know they had a great black friday deal on this unit.
im greedy. i feel like i should suppress my urge to get another laptop now (my current dv7 is only a year old anyway) and get another new unit in august '10... i can save this $550 now and spend it later on a more bada$$ system.... my current machine is wayyy more than enough machine for me but another lappie wouldn't hurt

I would stick with what you have and wait a while.

i wasnt looking to replace my current machine - just wanted to have another huge laptop next to my current one for absolutely no reason whatsoever... LOLOL
seriously tho - i wanted another machine on the side for development - something i can reimage/test crap on/test software on/ test windows 7 builds on without worrying about losing data. i currently have a vmware setup at work but wanted a machine at home i could tinker with.
i went from having 17 desktops in my apartment (i have pictures) to having only 4 laptops now. they're all older units though. i wanted something nice and recent to tinker with. -
$500 is not a special deal. You can go to best buy and get a dv6 with led, bigger hdd and 6gb ram for $600.
Personally I would never buy a TFT screen again. -
Is there any real reason why your 'new' home development environment has to be a laptop?
Why not build yourself a PC using a compact or SFF case and then remote into it from one of your laptops? For $500 you should be able to build something with a fast VT capable quad-core and at least 4 Gb of ram, maybe 8. Since you'll be remoting into this machine a motherboard IGP shoudl be more than enough graphics oomph.
As for VMs, that's all I use these days. Even on my T4300-powered laptop I can run two server instances (with Oracle, SQL Server, and/or MySQL) and one desktop instance on top of the native Win7 installation.
HP DV6 1334us $499 @ staples - worth it?
