I bought an HP DV6 model 6090EE with the following specs:
    CPU 2630, 8G RAM, Radeon 6770

I noticed this problem, and i am not even sure it is a problem on my first use when continuing the installation process, but when i played with the color enhancement in Intel Graphics and Media Control Panel by:
    going to Display-->Color Enhancement-->Color

i chosen the blue color ONLY and then decreased the Brightness from 0 into -31 which seems made the color much much better and acceptable.

do i have a faulty screen? or adjusting colors is normal thing to do in every screen?

I just got a dv7 and had it sitting next to another monitor and when I looked at the laptop, it does look awfully blue. Didn't really notice it until I had something next to it. I haven't tried adjusting it yet, though.

Yeah the screen is pretty terrible. Even i noticed it has a bluish tint to it. Honestly if HP added a good 1080p screen and backlit KB to the laptop it would've been perfect.

Well, if you correct the blue brightness to -31 & Blue contrast to 48, the screen will have a normal color, In general the screen is ok.

I totally agree with you about backlit KB though, i wonder which backlit KB is compatible with this DV6- 6000 series?!

I am amazed that the AMD graphics card is missing options for enhanced color adjustments, etc.

I found more adjustments for the Intel than the AMD... hopefully they release some new drivers soon!

Not everyone wants to run the Intel integrated graphics as their primary card.

I found this odd as well, but I also noticed that you can adjust the intel controls when the AMD is active. Could it just be utilizing the intel control panel operates color for both?

they're different parts altogether - the 3 letters at the start represent the maker - SEC = Samsung

The most common 2 makers of panels in laptops LCDs are AUO and CMO panels.

probably for the dv6, they order from various manufacturers to guarantee that they don't run out of parts in event of a shortage from one manufacturer...

there will be differences between the screens. In my old XPS M1330, there were SEC and LG panels, and the SEC ones were really grainy...

    i noticed the same thing....

but i can't be certain that the AMD card is being utilized as i change the settings, or whether it automatcially siwtched over to intel when i moved the controls.

i'd love some digital vibrance type thing, that would greatly improve my experience with this otherwise amazing laptop

    I figured.....it won't help for gaming.....
Because AMD driver doesn't provide color enhacment.

BTW, my panel is chepa and Crappy Samsung SEC4251
It's 2008 production which you would express it's just a garbge.

I have the same screen as yours, why HP uses such an old production for a new laptop???

BTW my color settings worked fine on Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, it seems depend on the game, what did you try?

    ok...
so you CAN change your color profile through intel display settings (ie. the onboard graphics panel).

and those same color settings apply afterward when u use your ATI 6770m card!

I just changed my color settings and played a game of sc2, so im sure!

awesome news! i just got 200% happier with my dv6!

From computer management--> Monitors --> Your monitor--> right click & choose properties--> on details tab, select the hardware ids from the combo box, then you can read your panel model number.

Thanks also for the tip on the blue color adjustment. Also have this type of panel in my 6180us. A very nice improvement on the color balance. The color adjustment is done by the Intel card so the color stays the same even when I switch to the AMD card. I don't get the logic yet but as long as it works.
