There was a quick discussion about this in the owners thread, but I could not find it among the hundreds of pages. Anyways, as we all know, the AC adapter charger that came with our notebook (especially the new 6000 series ones) is the size of a brick but weighs more than a brick.

There are many third party adapters on the internet that will work. If anyone has tried any of them, please share your experience. Many of us would like to look for one that is smallest and lightest.

The dv6tqe/dv7tqe use a 120 Watt AC Adapter & when it comes to size is one of the smallest solid performers I have found.

Just for fun though, I tested an HP 90W Slim Power Adapter ( HP 90W Slim Power Adapter | HP® Official Store) on a dv7tqe-6000 w/ Cinebench 11.5.

w/ the 120W AC Adapter the average score was 5.65

w/ the 90W AC Slim Adapter the average score was 5.22

Thanks Futureperfect for posting this. This will be very useful for others (like me), looking for a more portable AC adapter.

This morning, I just went out and bought this: Antec SNP90 Ultra Slim 90W AC Adapter. It is very light (200g) and very thin. I found out from the specs sheet that for my DV6t-6000, the power draw is up to 120w when using the HD6770m, and up to 65w when using the Intel GPU, so our 90W adapter should be fine as long as you're not using the AMD graphics.

I should probably run the CineBench 11.5 to find out some numbers!

I might have to up my "fun budget" for the year, the tinyish brick sounds nice.

On the other hand, I'm guessing the regular powerbrick will make me feel like a lumberjack dragging it and my lappy from my TV (first floor) to my room (3rd floor) to work and back 5 days a week. (I should really get a warranty lol )

that said, I'm just waiting for the dv6tqe to see if there are any flaws before I buy a warranty. Does this make sense in case I do the "FU DV6 go back to China" ?

    I found mine (dv6tqe) only drawing at most 70W (with a kill-a-watt) during 3DMark11

Did you remove the battery before testing?
