How large is it? Is it just a little spot? If so what you're probably seeing is pinched backlight foils. Unfortunately it is unfixable, you'll have to live with it.

I have this same issue, like 3 or 4 small spots that can be seen on a white screen or very bright screen. I just sent my dv7 in for webcam repair but I didn't even mention the problem about the screen. The idiots will probably make it worse lol.

What other types of LCD's have you seen? I know the one that needs flashlight in front to see something, it's called "dead backlight". :D

You just need a small screwdriver. Takes about 30mins if careful.

It takes more time to find a good replacement LCD online somewhere.

I'm experiencing the same problem. On bright background there is a bright spot visible near the center of the screen. It's really distractive!
I'm not sure what to do. I actually only got this laptop about 2 or 3 weeks ago and saw it for the first time a couple of days ago.

Did any of you contact HP for this matter, and is this a treatable problem within the warranty?

I'll be contacting my dealer about this problem tomorrow and I'll let you guys know what he has to say about this.

I have a dv6 3158ca and a few weeks back noticed the white spot problem in the upper left of screen. (only visible on bright backgrounds) Most companies wont repair a bad pixel even when in warranty unless you have like 4 or more! I found replacement screen for under $100 online, and I have the dv6 service manual so once the warranty period is up I will attempt to replace the screen. HP has gone to pot! and they are getting out of the hardware side of things! Even though only a small dot, once youve noticed it your eyes cant keep off it, so annoying! :(
