Dixons and PC World website seem to be showing the HP DV6-1299EA Laptop as having the ATI Radeon HD4850 GPU, which is meant to be a cracker but I can't see it with the GPU anywhere else is this likely to be an error?

Seems to be a mistake. It runs a HD 4 650, with 1 Gig of GDDR3 memory.

Your DV6-1299 EA seems to be an european version of my DV6-1264CA (Canadian version).

    Canadian one:

It's the Artist edition V2 with the MTV floral/ocean pattern.
In canada, it costs $999.99 CDN
It has the Turion Ultra ZM-82 (a little better at power saving/more cache memory) instead of a RM-75.

It comes with a 500GB HDD instead of a 320GB,
It also supports wireless N instead of b/g only
    I got a 16" Screen instead of 15.6"

Your version cost 699 euros ($1099 CDN).
I guess it's different markets and they adjust their offer accordingly.
