    Hi,

Ever since I have bought this model (~3months ago) I've recieved random BSOD throughout the day. Has anyone experience constant random BSODs with this model (or a DV6-2XXX with similar/same specs)?

    The specs are:

    Intel Core i7-720QM
    Nvidia GT-230M
    4GB DDR3 1333Mhz RAM
    640GB Samsung HDD
    Windows 7 64bit Professional

The messages that come up in the BSOD are completly random. Some indicates its a driver problem, however i tried installing/updating/rollbacking yet BSOD. I've even done a fresh install of Windows 7 (32bit using HP's factory image) and yet BSOD - I didn't even install any software - just used the factory ones. I've tested the ram the memtestx86 (or whatever it's called), graphics card with burnintest and HP diagnostic tool, hard drive, processor and no errors found in any of them.

The types of message vary greatly, here are some which I've noted down:

    IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL STOP 0x0000000A
    PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA STOP 0x00000050
    SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED STOP 0x0000007E
    BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER STOP 0x000000FE: BUGCHECK 3B {c0000005, fffff80003080805, fffff8800492a690

    and heaps more....

Did you do any overclocking or voltage changes?

Also, did any of the BSODs that you have experienced refer to a file that may have been at fault?

As you mentioned, it appears like a couple of them do point to driver issues (maybe the USB driver?).

    No

Yes and no. Some of them reported it was a driver issue, however I stressed tested the system and have found no driver which is faulty. Another indicates RAM problems, although I ran memtest (for 36hours) and no errors have been detected. I've even used my spare DDR3 sticks which I had lying around to be sure...

Hey man, I had this exact same problem , very frustraiting, Try a New RAM Stick, it is Definately the problem, One of mine was faulty, the other was fine, so muck around with the RAMM Chips, It would work Fine after you replace the faulty one. I ran RAM Test after RAM test with a heap of the apps, all to find no issue with it, a New ram Chip will cost about $50 (AUD) and it then worked fine, Has not BSOD'd in 6 months, where as before, it BSOD'd every couple of minutes (or even didnt even switch on)

i assume you replaced the 32bit software with 64bit software also.

That is what i did aswell. i am not sure if that caused the problem, but either way, works fine now.
