I would think that many of the people here would have the HP DV6-61XX with Intel Wireless-N 1030, yeah?
Problem is the damm thing (Intel Wireless-N 1030) has some serious issues. I can get a decent connected speed (150Mbps or higher) but the transfers are really bad, google has trouble trying to load which is a fairly blank web page.
If that card is forced to G standard in device manager, it works alot better, but is still poor at best.
Weird thing is, the old DV6-60XX that had an Intel Wireless-N 1000 which was great, I could transfer a 8GB file in about 10 mintues over wireless.
I would of though that the 1030 model would be better than the 1000 model? Anyone know how to get the Intel Wireless-N 1030 working good or if at all?
Think I have found the answer after trying almost everything else including updating the wireless drivers:
Go into Windows Advanced Power Options, and then change Wireless Adaptor Settings - Power Saving Mode, to Maximum Performance on battery.
-
The only difference between the 1000 and the 1030 is that the 1030 supports Bluetooth.
-
The 1030 also supports WiDi

Get the latest 64bit drivers from here:

Sorry the Intel 1000 is not on the list for WiDi support, although the Intel 1000 can use the same wireless drivers.
Intel® Wireless Display requires one of the following products:
-Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6205
-Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6230
-Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1030
-Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150 -
Intel® Wireless Display — System requirements for the Intel® Wireless Display
(my dv7t-60xx shipped with Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000 and WiDi Software pre-installed - but I haven't actually tried it. Also my Bluetooth is implemented as a separate card) -
The 1000 definitely supports WiDi.
Anyway, the 1030 and the 1000 are just not good cards.
