Hi
First of all I'd like to apologise for any errors in my english, I do my very best![]()
I bought this laptop (see title) around 6 months ago after my Packard Bell (Turion X2 RM-70 - 4GB DDR2) just died without warning. I am not a hardcore gamer, and ever since I bought an extremely cheap media player, wich plays just about anything I throw at it, I don't do much video coding anymore either. Because of this the performance of the A6-3410MX is more than I need on a normal day. I am a total noob when it comes to either (over/under)clocking or -volting. But sometimes I just feel "adventurous (? - probably not spelled right, right ?)", so I decided to try some under(clocking/volting) to lower my temps and perhaps get some more battery time (even though this laptop runs pretty cool on stock settings already). Here is what I tried so far, and it is quite possible these are very stupid settings (They appear to be very stable though). If they are stupid I would really appreciate some suggestions as to what makes a proper undervolt for this CPU.
Original:
B0 - 2300 - 1.3875V
P0 - 1600 - 1.1500V
P1 - 1500 - 1.1250V
P2 - 1400 - 1.0875V
P3 - 1300 - 1.0375V
P4 - 1200 - 1.0125V
P5 - 1000 - 0.9625V
P6 - 0800 - 0.9375V
Current:
B0 - 2300 - 1.2000V
P0 - 1600 - 1.1250V
P1 - 1500 - 1.0875V
P2 - 1400 - 1.0500V
P3 - 1200 - 1.0000V
P4 - 1000 - 0.9000V
P5 - 0800 - 0.8000V
P6 - 0500 - 0.7000V
So far I have not had any BSOD or lockup or anything. I admit I only tested it with Deep Rybka 4.1 ( a multicore 64bit chess engine, wich seems to max out every core when it runs). When I'm simply surfing the net the CPU has an avarage temp of just 27-29 Celsius and when running Rybka the max is just 65 Celsius. Since I'm a complete noob when it comes to these things I'm open to any constructive criticism.
UPDATE:
After some further trial & error, it appears that 0.7V is very near the absolute minimum this CPU needs to operate, even at reduced clockspeeds. It locked up at 0.65V, and at 0.6750V I got weird graphical corruptions when dragging windows between dual monitors. Too bad I've gotten 0 response yet. I guess this CPU is not that popular, or perhaps undervolting/-clocking is not as glamourous as overclocking to 10GHz with helium cooling and lots of neon lighting added to your box![]()
