Hey Guys,
I just reflowed my gpu on my hp dv6000 which are known to have bad gpus. So before I put it all back together I connected the Power Ribbon and It turns on for about 3 seconds, the fan spins, then it shuts off, pauses for 3 seconds, and does this continuously. I took a 15 second video of this( YouTube - hp dv6000 boot loop problem after gpu reflow, any ideas? Thanks‏ )
I have a firends same computer, I swapped out the ram and tried to put in one stick at a time and every combination, so I figure thats not the problem.
In order to test it I just plugged in the power ribbon, ram, HD, Disk Drive, Am I missing something?
Thanks a bunch for any suggestions!

First off Welcome to the Forum
How did you do the reflow?
It would seem to only be partially reflowed or possibly cooked to much.
look at this video YouTube - HP Pavilion Nvidia Reflow Process, DV6000, DV9000, DV2000, TX1000, TX2500 etc...‏ -
Nvidia's Nforce chipset has same issues as the GPU, you might want to give it a treatment also.

Hey thanks for the responces guys =), I was very careful, I basically did it exactly like this YouTube - HP Pavilion DV6000 Blank screen fix BGA rework video problem‏
The laptop had display issues before I did the reflow but would work on and off and always would work when connected to an external monitor. If I did a partial reflow, why would it boot loop, and I was really careful with the reflow and actually if anything undercooked it. Any thoughts?
Ya maybe but it doesn't make sense how before I did the reflow it was working fine other than the display and now it has the boot loop problem -
I read the comments for that video. It says that method fixes the boot loop problem,so maybe you didn't heat it enough to reflow the whole thing but just enough to loosen something. just a thought
I saw another one of those videos where they put a couple of coins on the chip while reflowing to help "seat" the chip while heating it. -
Thanks for the response, But The comp worked fine minus the screen not displaying before the reflow so I don't know how that would cause the boot loop problem. And I pushed down on the chip for a couple minutes right after heating to help eat it, so i'm really lost here..Any other suggestions, i really appreciate it
