I apologize if this issue has been addressed before but would someone be willing to help me out? My old laptop, which my brother is using, has been having some problems. Currently, on boot up, the screen goes gray. It wont even show anything prior to the the OS load-up. If I take the battery out and leave it unplugged for a while then try it again it will fix it until I restart it.

This problem started after I re-installed Windows 7 after it was getting the blue screen on boot-up. I have tried installing the latest graphic drivers and does the same thing with and with out them.

The laptop is an HP Dv6500 with an Nvidia 8400m.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Sounds like your graphics card is bricked. Happened to a good amount of older HPs with Nvidia
