    HP DV6000 Middle Click

    I just got a brand new HP DV6000 (6919ca), and I love it. It's a worthy replacement for my old MSI laptop. However, my old laptop didn't use Synaptics, and now with the HP, I find that there is no option to tap two fingers on the touchpad to simulate a middle click :(. I've done a few searches, but didn't really net anything useful. I added the reg tweak, so middle button actually shows up in options, but only works by pushing the two physical buttons at the bottom, not with fingers.

    My old laptop used two fingers for middle click, and three fingers (albeit less accurate) for a right click...really missing those features especially when I use Firefox. I know there are those tap zone thingies, but it's just not the same.

    Any advice would be great!

    To do a middle click, touch both the left and right buttons at once. That's the only way I think you can do it.

    Do this it works:
    Goto the run command and enter "regedit" without quotes. Then browse to the following:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Synaptics\SynTP\Defaults\ -- create the key as a DWORD 'HasBothButtonFeature' and set the value to 1.

    Log off and login and middle click will start working. It works with any laptop make with synaptics on it.

    That's the "both buttons" trick... already mentioned in the first post.
    Synaptics' windows drivers simply do not have a multi-finger tapping feature, despite there being some references to "2FingerTapAction" and "3FingerTapAction" in the registry. Only the Synaptics Linux drivers support such multi-finger things, for now -- and it really irritates me whenever I have to boot into Windows. Even the both-buttons thing is another gripe for me... for some reason, only Dell gets it enabled in their drivers. Why does Dell deserve such special treatment?

    Yeah, I did read about Dell. Not sure if there was any success with using Dell's driver for our Synaptic touchpads...what a huge pain. Not looking to dualboot Ubuntu because of the trouble to get the quicktouch, wifi, and stuff working. HP has a lot of proprietary crap.
