    Hi,
I'm trying to find a fix for a buddy of mines screen problem. The backlight either flickers or shuts off completely whenever it feels the need. If you wiggle the screen or move it back and forth you can find a spot where it will stay on for a while. I've done endless searching on the topic. Most of the fixes are for replacing back inverters, or faulty nvidia graphics cards. This laptop doesn't have an Nvidia card, and I don't think it is the inverter since moving the screen snaps it back to life. I would guess it is the monitor cable but I can't find any info on if or how to replace it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Go to HP support site, search for the product info/manuals and download repair manual.pdf for the dv6000. Check correct model number from the sticker in the bottom.

Service manual has pictured instructions how to do the change and also the part numbers listed what parts you need to order as replacement.

The only thing I can think of is that one of the wires connected to the CCFL backlight has come loose and needs to be resoldered. I found that problem on a Dell notebook once. Drove me nuts trying to figure it out.
